TheGodIs Arts LLC – Our Mission
TheGodIs Arts LLC is more than an arts organization—it is an evolving, living space for Black joy, radical imagination, and creative liberation. We are here to disrupt, to reclaim, and to build. Through visual art, music, movement, and storytelling, we challenge dominant narratives, center Black voices, and cultivate spaces where artistic expression is not just welcomed, but necessary.
We are pro-Black. We are pro-People of The Global Majority. We are anti-imperialist. We are anti-racist. We are anti-discrimination. We reject the erasure, commodification, and dilution of Black/PGM culture. Instead, we create our own ecosystems of support, empowerment, and visibility, ensuring that the richness of our artistry is preserved and honored on our terms.
The Philosophy – Art as Revolution
Our foundation is rooted in a simple truth: God is everywhere—on the dance floor, in a bassline, in poetry, in laughter, in love. The world teaches us that struggle is our only reality, but we know better. We know that art is not just survival—it is a tool of resistance, a blueprint for liberation, and a vehicle for change.
From the Harlem Renaissance to the present day, our ancestors have used creative expression to shape the world around them. We continue this legacy by ensuring that Black artists have the freedom, space, and support to create without limitation. Black joy is a revolutionary act, and every work we produce, every gathering we host, every space we build is a declaration of that joy.
What We Do
-
Create & Sustain Safe Spaces for Black Art & Culture
We are committed to maintaining spaces where Black/PGM culture can be known, celebrated, and preserved—without censorship, without compromise. Events like Glimmer Garden MicShop serve as incubators for creativity and connection, offering artists the freedom to explore, experiment, and express in an environment that values them. -
Dismantle Barriers to Access
Black/PGM artists deserve more than visibility—they deserve ownership, agency, and sustainable careers. We actively work against the systems that keep our voices unheard by creating opportunities for direct patronage, investment, and artistic growth. -
Reclaim the Narrative
The world is obsessed with Black trauma, but our stories are bigger than pain. Through exhibitions, performances, and collaborations, we celebrate the full spectrum of Black/PGM life—our laughter, our love, our brilliance. We create art that honors where we’ve been and builds where we’re going. -
Support Artistic Evolution
Creativity is a lifelong journey. We recognize that rest, self-care, and experimentation are essential to artistic excellence. Through mentorship, residencies, and community-driven projects, we foster spaces where artists can develop their craft on their own terms.
TheGodIs Arts is a Call to Action
We exist because Black/PGM artists deserve more. More space. More support. More celebration. More ownership.
We exist because Black joy is sacred.
We exist because art is how we build a future where we are free.
